Regulation: Disney+

Posted by

Over the course of time, we have seen what streaming services are made of. Streaming has taken over the world. Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and Disney+ are some servers that have gained popularity over the last few years. Personally, my family and I only use streaming in our house. We stream everything through Apple TV.  Streaming has become the new norm for many people especially college kids. Since I live in a dorm, all I do is stream my tv through different streaming platforms on my laptop. I believe streaming is eventually going to take over and cable will not be a thing anymore in the near future.

The website and app that I have chosen to talk about is Disney+. Disney+ is a streaming server owned by the Walt Disney Company. This company was founded on October 16th, 1923. The two men who founded the company of Walt Disney were brothers named Walt and Roy Disney. Today, the company headquarters are located in Burbank, California. Disney+ offers movies and TV series that have been produced by Walt Disney Studios. Throughout the platform, they have hubs for other brands that associate themselves with Walt Disney Studios. Brands like, Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Pixar. It also offers something called the Disney Bundle. Disney arranged a deal with ESPN+ and Hulu for people to watch these streaming servers through Disney+. Disney+ was originally launched on November 12th, 2019.

According to the article “What is Disney Plus? The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide”, by Jen Allen, Disney+ now has nearly 130 million subscribers around the world. You must be a subscriber in order to watch and indulge yourself into Disney+. Like many other streaming services, Disney+ once did offer a free trial period, but because of a very successful start to the server, Disney+ decided that they don’t need it anymore. However, unlike many other streaming services, Disney+ payment plan is not as complicated. Disney+ payment plan is $8 per month. Also, if you are certain that you are a true Disney+ subscriber, then you can pay $80 for a year. Whether or not you buy the $8 plan or the $80 plan, you are still getting everything Disney+ is offering. Before, I mentioned the Disney Bundle and what it entails. This bundle brings together three amazing streaming services into one price. The price for the Disney Bundle is $14 per month. I think that buying the Disney Bundle is worth it. I recently canceled my subscriptions for Hulu and ESPN+ and switched over to the Disney Bundle and see if I would benefit from it. I ended up paying $6 less per month.

The creators of Disney+ are targeting families with young children. I think that is why the payment plan is so cheap compared to other streaming services. One restriction on Disney Plus is that if you have young children at home, you can set up parental controls once you sign up for your account.
